Cooking With SmartStart Ceramic
What makes SmartStart Ceramic cookware different?
Ceramic quite literally translates to “clay that has been fire hardened.” When it comes to ceramic cookware, you can find it in two forms, either 100% ceramic or ceramic-coated. SmartStart Ceramic is made with an aluminium body and coated with a ceramic nonstick interior.
Can I use cooking sprays with SmartStart Ceramic cookware?
It's best to avoid cooking sprays with cookware, as they can leave a residue that is difficult to clean. Instead, use a small amount of oil or butter for cooking.
Do I need to cook differently with ceramic coated cookware?
Ceramic nonstick is a better heat conductor and able to maintain its surface temperature once the desired heat level is reached, than traditional nonstick coatings. We recommend that once your pan has reached optimum cooking temperature, you cook on a lower heat setting than you would do with a traditional nonstick pan.
Can I use metal utensils with SmartStart Ceramic cookware?
It's always best to avoid using metal utensils on any nonstick surface, including ceramic as they can scratch the ceramic coating. Instead, opt for silicone, wooden, or plastic utensils to preserve the nonstick surface.
What are the benefits of SmartStart Ceramic cookware?
- It’s lightweight and nonstick. Unlike heavy pans made of cast iron, ceramic pans don’t require a seasoning process to get started and they are far more lightweight and easy to manoeuvre. Even compared to stainless steel pans, they offer more versatility and ease-of-use.
- Ceramic cookware is easy to clean. The nonstick coating does away with the need for any elbow grease to scrub food off surfaces. Handwashing is recommended for longevity with a bit of mild dishwashing soap, warm water, and a soft sponge.
- It is made from natural materials and made without PFOA, PFAS and PTFE.
Is SmartStart Ceramic cookware dishwasher safe?
Yes,
SmartStart Ceramic can be washed in the dishwasher, but hand washing is recommended (as with all nonstick cookware) to prolong its lifespan and nonstick properties. You can usually hand wash it with warm, soapy water. Avoid using abrasive scrubbers or metal utensils that can damage the ceramic coating.
Is SmartStart Ceramic oven safe?
Yes,
SmartStart Ceramic is safe to use in the oven up to 180°C / 350°F.
